Minnemato Newfoundlands, Reg. (est. 1983) is located in southern Minnesota on a bluff overlooking two rivers – an ideal location for raising these Gentle Giants. Our Newfoundland dogs are noted for their outstanding temperaments, soundness, and type. We have placed Newfoundland puppies in companion, working, and show homes across the United States and abroad as well as in Minnesota.
Our Newfoundland puppies are whelped and raised in our family room. They receive a lot of attention from us and from frequent visitors and friends, all Newf lovers, who drop by to see and play with the puppies. In this way the puppies are well-socialized and get used to being handled by people of all ages. The puppies are exposed to household noises, different surfaces, other Newfoundlands, and the resident cat. At seven weeks of age the puppies receive the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test, administered by an experienced evaluator. We use the results of this evaluation as a tool in matching the puppies with appropriate families. The puppies receive a very thorough physical exam and are microchipped after they are eight weeks old. They are ready to go to their homes between their ninth and tenth week. We tell the new owners of our puppies that they are now a part of our extended family. We are available to them for assistance or support at any time.
We are active members of the Newfoundland Club of America, the Northstar Newfoundland Regional Club, the Minnesota Purebred Dog Breeders Association, and the Key City Kennel Club. We give talks and do demonstrations with our Newfoundlands for schools and other organizations. We are a resource for people requesting information about the Newfoundland dog and dog ownership.
