JULIE/NELSON LITTER BEST WISHES to the puppies born on May 11th to Minnemato's Jewel of the Sea (Julie) and Ch Misty Mtn's Lord of the Seas (Nelson) as the puppies celebrate their four month birthday. They are well-established in their new homes and are enjoying a variety of lifestyles. One puppy,Doc, is spending his time between his summer home in Alice Cove, Alaska at a fishing lodge where he fishes the nearby streams and swims in the ocean, and Anchorage, Alaska, where he lives in a hillside home protecting his owners from the occasional moose who wanders by. Doc is being tutored by expert Newf fisherdog, Brian (Ch Minnemato's Good Thunder). Brian, who has spent most of his life in Alaska, will be celebrating his thirteenth birthday in January and is well-qualified to pass on his talents to young Doc. Another puppy, Finn, is living in the mountains in Colorado. He has been swimming in the mountain streams since he was ten weeks old. He enjoys fly fishing and watching the moose and bear who take short cuts through his backyard. He is being trained in water rescue and draft work. The other puppies are also enjoying life as well-loved companions, and enjoy swimming in backyard kiddie pools and taking strolls through the neighborhoods with their owners. We are hoping the puppies with their owners will have a reunion at the Newfoundland Club of America National Specialty this coming May. Posted: 9-11-2009 IVAN IS A CHAMPION!   Minnemato's Chief Standing Bear (Ivan) completed his AKC championship at the shows in Wichita, Kansas on April 5th. He won a three point major. Ivan had four major wins altogether, two four point majors, and two three point majors, plus some single points which put him over the top to qualify for his championship. On April 18th, Ivan won Best in Show at his first United Kennel Club (UKC) show. Ivan is out of Ch Minnemato's Waconia RN, and Ch Minnemato's Vintah Cowboy, RN. Posted: 9-17-2009 WATER DOG!! Congratulations to Jerry and Deni Hall on their new NCA Water Dog titlist, Ch Minnemato's Lake Thunder (Cole). The water trial was held in Greyslake, Michigan on September 12th. The judges were Mike and Sandee Lovett. This was Jerry's and Cole's first attempt at the title. They did well. In the past few years Cole has earned four obedience titles, Companion Dog (CD), Companion Dog Excellent(CDX),Rally Novice(RN),and Rally Excellent(RE). Cole is out of AKC/UKC Ch Minnemato's Sudden Thunder, CD, RN (Stanley), and AKC/UKC/Int Ch Minnemato's Hellbent for Election, CD, RN, CGC, TDI (Ellie). UKC Ch BIS Minnemato's Sacagewea (Gigi) presented us with seven lovely puppies on August 31st. There are five males and two females, all black. The sire is Ch Minnemato's Good Thunder (Brian). Gigi is a littermate of Ch Minnemato's Lake Thunder, CD,CDX,WD,RN,RE (Cole) who just recently earned his water dog title (see WATER DOG!). Brian is out of Ch Minnemato's Decoria, and Ch Castaway's Thunder Storm (Travolta). The puppies and mom are doing well. Posted: 9-17-2009
